Commercial Basement Waterproofing

High Street Bank
Table of Content — open

Overview of the Project

This bank had a large basement. Due to neglected maintenance the gutters have overflown for a long time. The water ran down the side of the building, causing significant damages to window frames, the fabric of the walls and to the plastering.

In addition, as the building has been built on the hill side, some walls were fully or partially underground. These walls were suffering of typical problems characteristic to old basements: sideways moisture penetration, crumbling plaster, salt crystallization etc.

Basement damages

To solve the problem long-term in a building-friendly way, the MGN Roman waterproofing system has been used. This lime plastering system uses a combination of lime materials that deal with all aspects of the problem: water ingress, mechanical consolidation, salt problems, aesthetic aspect, breathability etc.
