The difference between a normal lime plaster and a salt-resistant lime plaster in terms of durability and longevity is staggering. Both plasters are breathable. Normal lime plasters break down in the presence of ground salts, while the salt-resistant lime plaster will not break down, protecting the main coat and finish for about 10X longer. The ancient Romans used these plasters all over Italy and Venice and developed them specifically for difficult applications.
