It is a well known rule in conservation circles that cement mortars and plasters should not be used in old buildings. Cement is NON BREATHABLE and prevents buildings from breathing. It is also HARD and brittle, so it cracks, letting rainwater in, “amplifying” the dampness problem. See for yourself the effects of cement on this old building we have been working on.
